Well, the World Cup goes on, and we have nothing really more to shout about unfortunately (unless you support a team still in contention!). I suppose we still have Wimbledon to watch!
I am reading on sites such as Twitter and Facebook all the time, people going to the gym, working out for hours, burning loads of calories, working hard – which is great, but are your training methods getting you the results you’re really after? If you ask yourself that question, and have to ponder for a second, then most probably, you’re not heading in the direction you really want to be going, right?
Then it’s time to reconsider what you are doing, mix it up a little, move things around, do your session backwards, up the level 1 or 2, go a little longer, faster, stronger, or try something different… you know the score?!
Have you ever come across yet the ViPR, or TRX, have you tried sledges, tires etc.? If you’re doing the standard ‘gym’ training, it’s time to switch your mind, and training methodology.
Take a look around our site, and some of the blogs on here – watch some of our clips on our Training Guide Page – here, you will find some new exercises for you to try – you may have already seen them, but have you tried them, or simply forgotten about them? Well, here is a refresh… Give them a go, and let us know.
Today, we are going to share an awesome exercise using the ViPR – a hollow – weighted tube with handles which you can use as a functional lifting and functional movement based exercise tool. If you don’t have one of these, maybe use a weighted body bar, or medicine ball, or your hands!
Below are two exercises great for strengthening your abdominals and core muscles, defining the abs, building some muscle definition and developing the back stabilisers – you will need to use your core strength to maintain posture and form. Give it a go – put it in the mix!
This time we are demonstrating the correct technique when executing the Russian Twist and Roll Outs using the ViPR. Nail these correctly, and you’ll get two awesome extras to your training session.
We hope you enjoy this one – as always, give it a try, and please feel free to comment…
