A Great Night Out – Bowling

Last Friday, absolute fitness enjoyed another great night out during our monthly social events. The Training Team and customers joined together for an evening of bowling at Hollywood Bowl in Ashton.

ten pinA simple event, but one which was filled with a few good laughs, some drink and a great prize giveaway.

15 of us lined 3 of the bowling lanes and competed in a small but tightly fought bowling battle. We witnessed some weird and wonderful bowling techniques, none of them better than Chris Massey and Chelsea Barnes who both adopted a unique style that I haven’t seen before.

We also got to see quite a few great full strikes and a huge number of ’s pares’. Top of the Strike rank was Lyndsey Stapleton who outperformed us all with these brilliant bowls.

Both Richard and Mike were neck and neck most of the way for overall points accumulated with a battle for 2nd and third not far behind.

A few players (Sue, Zeineth and Toni to name a few) got off to a slow start, but eventually shone through again with some out of the ordinary brilliant Strikes.

Overall after 2 games, final scores were as follows:

  • Kim = 169 points – 2 strikes
  • Jude = 167 points – 3 strikes
  • Zeineth = 123 points – 1 strike
  • Mags = 152 points – 0 strikes
  • Mike = 216 points – 2 strikes

  • Toni = 136 points – 2 strikes
  • Claire W = 183 points – 2 strikes

  • Chelsea = 93 points – 0 strikes
  • Sue = 130 points – 3 strikes

  • Anna = 147 points – 3 strikes

Time Of The Month..!

Yes, yet another month has flown by, and for some people, it’s ‘passed them by’!!

Why? Simple… this month we have had yet another great number of Action Takers, all committed on changing their lives for the better by attending our results orientated Fitness & Fat Loss Boot Camp programme. For others, they may have ‘thought‘ about attending, but didn’t take the necessary steps in dedicating just 28success_baby days to achieve some amazing results for themselves.

Now, results are coming in from our 8 Boot Camps around the Manchester, Tameside and Cheshire areas, and once again, they are phenomenal! So, those people who were ‘thinking about‘ coming will probably now be kicking themselves for not coming.

This time of the month is when results come in from our team members, and it makes all our early get ups, and evening training sessions all be worthwhile. This is why we do it, to see the weight drop off, to see our waistlines narrow and the inches get shed off our bodies. The fitness results are just another thing to shout about and be proud of!

There isn’t really ever a month go by, where we test and re-test our crew members fitness statistics, and they don’t improve, and that goes for some people who are still training with us after months of their first ever Boot Camp.

This month saw a few people drop 5kg and 6kg in the 4 weeks from one of our camps, a female membeResults No Excusesr shed 10 inches in 1 WEEK… 1 WEEK!! Can you believe that??! Another shed a total of 21 inches over the 28 days programme.

Now these are great results right, but they are not alone… Everyone who commits themselves to the programme sees these kinds of results, and sure yeah, they differ from person to person. But average inch loss results over the month are 7+ inches, and people tend to always drop a whole clothes size (or even TWO!!)

Great yeah? I agree..! If you could a price on these kinds of results, what would it be?

If someone told you, they would give you the necessary tools in your inbox, motivate you to deliver in your training sessions, guide you through a proven programme that gets results, be there every step of the way (and more), create an environment where you can work with people in the same situation as you, wanting the same things… Would you take the opportunity??

Would you get involved..?? Sure as hell yeah! (If not, then you’re probably a bit mad [and I probably wouldn't want to work with you anyway])!!

So… for me, this time is always the best time of the month, as it makes my job, oh sorry, should I say, my passion so much more worthwhile. It’s why I love to do what I do. 2011 BIG Boot Camp for Comic Relief

So absolute fitness have decided to do something crazy this year for Comic Relief. After our recent success of delivering our awesome results driven FitnessCamps, where we have our Team Members dropping clothes sizes, and shedding inches left, right and centre (literally), we thought it may be a good idea, to arrange a BIG Red Nose Day BOOTCAMP all in aid of Comic Relief..!

So on Saturday 12th March at 10am from The Village Hotel & Leisure Club in Ashton, we are are aiming to put 100 people through our Boot Camp paces with the session being delivered by our 4 Top Boot Camp Trainers. The session is open to everyone (on a first come first served basis), and will be an ideal opportunity to ‘try’ out what all this Boot Camp fuss is about. The session will (possibly) have a little extra fun than normal as it is for Charity, but not only will you be doing a good thing for you that day, but you will also be helping to raise vital funds for a very worthy cause and help transform many other peoples lives too.

We are aiming to raise around £2000 through the event – which we will hope to achieve by having all attendees pay £5 to train, holding a BIG BOOTCAMP Prize Draw, with some great prizes on offer, we have Special EXCLUSIVE 2011 BIG Red Nose Day BOOTCAMP T-Shirts available to buy too, and much more…

We are therefore also looking for businesses to possibly donate prizes towards our raffle, so if you have something worth giving away, please do get in touch..!

She’s Signed Up For Boot Camp – Again!

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook or know me in a real in the person sense, you’ll have heard me talk about Bootcamp.

bootcamp1I’ve been doing Bootcamp now for 3 weeks. Bootcamp runs at my local gym, the Unit, in Glossop. It consists of 45 minutes of exercising on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and is lead by Heidi Wood and Richard Marsh.

I’m pleased with myself because it starts at 6:30am and I signed up to it. And I don’t mind it. And I haven’t missed one (apart from one when I was away on holiday). People who know me well will understand what a feat this is. I don’t have kids so waking up at 5.50am isn’t something I’m very used to.

I’ve definitely started to change shape and I’ve lost some centimeters according to the tape measure.

Weight loss isn’t something I’ve been focusing on. I don’t really lose weight unless I’m really careful of what I eat and it fluctuates so much I can’t say what the results are right now. Usually for me exercise makes little difference to my weight. What exercise does for me is it focuses my mind on overall fitness. To be better able to cycle up hills and put the running miles in I need to be leaner. Boot camp helps me to focus on eating healthily. When I try to lose weight I’m careful nowadays not to lose more than one or two pounds per week, so I’m not expecting or hoping for huge losses (I’ll write a blog post soon on how you can achieve that).

What is most useful for me is getting up at 5.50am. For a while during the summer I was trying to get up at that time in an attempt to get more done with my days. I couldn’t stick to it very easily, but with Boot camp to go to I can. Getting out of bed at 5.50am is a great benefit to me. I really get so much more done with my day.Guarantee Stamp

One of the best things about the sessions is that they are varied and fun. It’s not about being screamed at in a military style, more about encouraging you to get the most of the session. There’s usually a little game involved which helps to wake you up and enjoy the exercise. Each day we do something different. Generally the same type of exercise, but in a different way. There’s a lot of burpees, crunches, squats, lunges and that type of activity. Because there’s variety, you don’t get bored. If you’re interested, Richard has produced an Ebook of boot camp workouts that are available for purchase online.

A further bonus point is that the people in the class good craic. We have a laugh (but take the exercising seriously obviously!)

In view of this and the fact that I’m improving my fitness levels considerably, I’ve signed up for another month. I’ve asked other people if they’re interested and the usual answer is, “you can f**k right off!”. Ha! I know it’s not for everyone, but It’s great, seriously. I’ve honestly really enjoyed it.

If 6.30 is too daunting, there are 09.30 am times too. But I’m sticking with 6.30 – even though the option to go at 9.30am is there.

Here are some of the stats of my losses since November 2009 (before bootcamp, but since I started exercising and reducing my calorific intake). It’s been slow, but there is definite progress.

In terms of weight since November 2009 I’ve lost about 2.5 or 3 stone. It’s not a huge amount, but I’ve not been trying as hard as I might with the food. I had lost a further 7-10lbs more before Christmas, but I went off the wagon a little.

Fun Things We Get Up To…

Hey, I hope you are well? I have just uploaded a new short clip of some footage at one of our Boot Camp training sessions from last week. This one was at Woodley in Stockport, it was a good little session. I actually caught them on camera towards the end of the session, so they were all slightly flagging by the time I got round to them.

Anyway, just thought I would share this one, as if you browse your way through some of our other video clips on the site, you can see some of the versatility in our Boot Camp training sessions.

One other noticeable thing about our brilliant fitness formula, is that it is NOT a military based regime..! We don’t shout down at people, we simply motivate and encourage our Team Members to achieve more every session. That’s what has been getting us the amazing results we have been seeing recently.

This morning was a real good Boot Camp session, now renamed to ‘SnowCamp’. Considering the snow had fallen over night, there was a decent turnout to this mornings training session. So… thanks to those that came. I think we all had a good laugh whilst still working hard..?!

Just to outline this morning session, it included:

Warm Up:

Gentle Jog Shuttles, Side Steps and Heel Flicks

1 min of Star Jumps

1 min High Knees

1 min Press Ups

1 min Squat Thrusts

Main Section:

2 x Personal Sledge Shuttles – Push a mat along the snow like a sledge x 2 shuttles

1 min – 5 x Press Ups, 5 x Tricep Dips – keep alternating

1 min – Mountain Climbers

1 min – Quad Squats

1 min – Snow ‘Mat’ Sledge Push outs (and pull back in)

1 min – Roll Backs to Stand

2 x Personal Sledge Shuttles – Push a mat along the snow like a sledge x 2 shuttles

2 x Partner Sledge Shuttles – Push a friend / team mate on the mat (snow sledge) x 2 shuttles

Repeat The above Drills including the sledge pushing for 3 circuits

Tough workout, but great fun at the same time..!

We’re Expanding

We are really pleased to announce that in the New Year, absolute fitness Body Transformation Boot Camps will be expanding with the addition of two new camp locations.

We have been able to secure two new locations, and training camps which will start in January and February 2011. The first to compliment our already 4 Boot Camps strong line-up will be a Morning Boot Camp based from The Village Leisure Club in Hyde. This camp will start along with our other camps on Monday 3rd January 2011 with training camps being held on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday at 6.45-7.30am. Our second extra Boot Camp will be based from ‘The Unit’, a new and fresh Fitness Club in Glossop. This Camp will start in February 2011 with early morning training sessions. So… This now takes the absolute FitnessCamp portfolio to 6 seperate Boot Camps in 5 different locations/venues.

We hold Boot Camps in Woodley, Hyde, Ashton and Glossop with a mix of early morning, evenings and weekend camps both indoor and outdoor (during Winter months, most Boot Camps are based indoor).

2011 is going to be an interesting year for absolute fitness, with the plans of other new and exciting additions to join the business established several years ago specialising in quality Personal Training and Body Transformation Boot Camps…

Boot Camp Success

I really do have to be honest with you… This month has seen some AMAZING transformation results during our already successful Body Transformation Boot Camps.

We are currently approaching the half way point in the current 4 week camp, and some of our recruits have seen some brilliant fitness related improvements, from performing push ups better, squatting more in a minute, or running faster and stronger during some of our high tempo running drills – all these are awesome to see, it’s what makes our job so much more interesting and rewarding.

On top of this, literally within 10 days and just 4-5 training sessions we have had reports from our recruits that their abs feel more toned, flatter and stronger, their clothes are already fitting better – I can’t wait to see what changes we’ll see in the next couple of weeks!

Great Results at FitnessCamp

Well, the last FitnessCamp held during May saw some great results by those who came and ripped the sessions apart. One camper saw his weight drop by just over 10lbs over the first 3 weeks and his aerobic fitness, strength and shape all greatly improve.

Another happy camper, felt huge improvements with his stamina, strength and tone, all in time for his one week holiday starting on the last day of the camp.

Our two new June FitnessCamps are already proving to be a success, with the morning campers tearing it up and feeling the ‘burn’ and the benefits from attending each morning. Early starts it may be, but when you start seeing and feeling these results, some of these girls are having, it makes it all the more worthwhile!

The June camp is in its early days, but I just have that feeling, we’re going to see some amazing results, so… watch this space!

Well, we are into May – and it is time for us to kick start our May FitnessCamp. It starts on Tuesday morning from our Private Training Studio in Hyde, Cheshire.

This FitnessCamp is being lead by our Senior Trainer – Mat Leigh. If you’re looking for some great results in a short time frame, then you won’t want to miss out on this camp – he is one tough cookie Trainer, and loves to see people achieve awesome results.

January 2010 absolute FitnessCamp – Day Two

Well, I must say, we have a good little team of people on this months absolute FitnessCamp. Dedicated to waking up early, getting out of bed whilst it’s still dark, cold and sometimes wet or snowing, and then getting down to the studio for a great 45 minute workout. What makes this easier, is training with like minded people, there for similar reasons.

6.15am IS an early time to work out, but hey, if that’s what is going to get results, then why not? The rest of the day is then there to do what ever needs to be done, whether that’s work, home chores, or relaxing or playing with the kids – we have the time to do it.

Most often, the one biggest reason people do not exercise is because of the perceived lack of time – but these people don’t have that problem, because we are making time work on our side! If you want it, you’ve got to get out there and get it!

This morning was day two, and after a gentle, introduction to the camp ethics and structure on Monday, it was time to turn up the calorie burning furnace, and get some real work done.

We started with a team warm up of Box and Combat moves, moving straight into some timed team sprint interval shuttles. Back into the studio for a 15min full body circuit session, non stop. We finished the session today with some one on one pad work and sparring drills, before a great rewarding stretch off.

absolute FitnessCamp – Half-Way Marker

Well, we are very quickly reaching the half way marker of the November 09 absolute FitnessCamp! Participants have been waking early almost every morning to workout before the working day begins, whilst others, especially loved ones remain tucked up asleep in bed!

We hit the studio, warm up, then knock out the sets, train hard, push the boundaries and melt the fat away. IncMeasurereasing the bodies metabolism is one of the main focuses on the FitnessCamp – this way, we know we can be burning more calories at any one time (especially when at rest), and also when we have finished our gruelling session. We are toning, tightening, and streamlining the body to feel better, look better and perform better with all our lifes demanding roles.

Yes, we hope to ‘lose weight’, but this will come over time, after we have implemented the changes we need to make in order to achieve these types of goals. Commitment and dedication to the end product is what is required here!

Day One – absolute FitnessCamp

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

The alarm bell sounds at 5.15am, Wednesday morning – the day has arrived! absolute FitnessCamp – November 09 is here!

A small group of training clients have decided to embark on what will prove to be an interesting and beneficial exercise adventure over the next 4 weeks. They will be pushed, encouraged, supported and told to go beyond current comfortable exercise boundaries. It’s time to not just take part – but to do something incredible!

Today’s first session is designed to ease them into the group and the surroundings and most importantly into the ethos and philosophy of the FitnessCamp sessions. Don’t scare, just encourage – ensure they return tomorrow!

A good, all over body workout is completed in a simple 5 round circuit style plan. Main muscles worked, warm glow appears (sweaty in some cases!), job done.

7am – all stretched off, feel good, the tough bit (for now) is done, we have started! For some people just taking that first step and arriving is what we all dread – so well done to this months FitnessCamp participants!

Bring on tomorrow – 2 sessions to complete tomorrow, time to step it up a notch – should be interesting!
